Spring has come late to Vancouver this year. I realize that those of you who are still under two feet of snow will have limited sympathy for me, but it’s true. By the time the Olympics were over last year, the cherry blossoms were well in bloom. Now it’s April and they still haven’t hit full swing. They started to bloom in February as usual, but a long cold snap put them in suspended animation.
It’s been raining a lot lately, and some days, like yesterday are still quite fridge-like. However, the flowers are finally daring to continue the bloom they began two months ago.
It’s Babby’s first spring, and the walks are fun. At least, when it isn’t raining.
Yeah, my sympathy is quite limited, although all the bulbs I planted last fall seem to be coming up – but it’s still pretty nippy out there.
The captions on your photos are cute. “I grab dem. Grab grab grab”. Yeah. That’s basically what it’s like, showing things to babies. *sigh*
Yay for bulbs! I love bulbs.
I loved the captions too. 🙂
The bulbs in my front yard have decided that it’s spring here, so I’m not going to argue with them.
The daffodils are up here, but the crocuses are long finished.
I glanced outside to look at my few little crocus shoots coming up, and I saw Violet stomping on them. Then she ran off and came back with a chunk of ice and dropped it on them. I don’t know what she has against them, but they will be very lucky (and hearty!) if they bloom at all.
Oh Violet. Perhaps she’s mad because they aren’t violets?
I dunno actually, I’ve got nothing. Poor wee things.
Maybe she just likes winter?
Great pix! On Saturday I called my brother (in Buffalo, NY) and accidentally mentioned it was in the 60s and that I had worked in the yard all day (in North Carolina) and he hung up on me.
Ha ha, oh dear 🙂
There is nothing like spring blooms! Babby is so friggin’ cute. I was actually just planting some day lilies, salivia and red hot pokers today and while I was doing it I was thinking “This is a great spot for a forsythia bush”. Seriously.
I love forsythia. They’re such a cheerful way to start spring.
<—- 2+ feet here still, except where the sun has tried it's best to melt…. we call this season dirt.
Yay for Spring! It’s finally coming her, too, and I love that we can go to the playground again!
Dammit! HERE. It’s coming here. Not her. 😛
