It’s awfully early to be drawing conclusions, and it may have been a massive coincidence, but last night we gave Babby Zantac… and he slept from 11:30 pm until seven in the freaking morning.
This is the longest sleep since the freakish six hour incident a couple of weeks ago. He has hit five hours once or twice, but most nights it has been the usual every-two-hours thing.
So maybe this is another freak sleep.
Or maybe the Zantac is magic.
Too bad he sobs broken heartedly whenever I give it to him.
Oh good. Here’s hoping it keeps up.
That’s so awesome! Gods, I need this for Jonah! 😀 (Seriously up every hour lately. At 13 months. Ugh.)
As hard as it is to torture him with the medication, I sure hope it’s working. Did YOU get any sleep or did you still wake up every 2-3 hours wondering if he was still breathing? That was my problem when Joe (my youngest) was little.
I woke up a couple times in the early morning because my breasts were getting hard and painful. But the clock is over on my husband’s side of the bed so I didn’t know how much time had gone by until he woke up!
Some pharmacies have a grape flavouring that you can add to the Zantac to make it taste a little better. I just read your previous post and was thinking it sounds like reflux. I was also going to say you’ll see an improvement right away if it is the reflux. All I can say is it really sucks having a refluxy baby. It took our arrogant doctor 4.5 months to prescribe the Zantac when I had been complaining about the same symptoms since the beginning. Once they start on solids it seems to get better. Hang in there.
They gave us PEPPERMINT flavoured Zantac. Babby no likey.
Gawd, can you blame him? Peppermint flavoured anything (aside from candy canes, in very specific circumstances) is pretty nasty.
Mind you, Isaac used to get a lot of ear and lung infections during his first two years, and it didn’t seem to matter what the flavour was, it still just sucked getting meds into him until he was old enough to understand medicine = feeling better.
I tasted it myself and it tastes like peppermint flavoured death. It smells like candy cane, but it’s AWFUL. My poor baby. But he slept through the night AGAIN last night – I’m thinking this is no coincidence.
Hooray!
Not that it tastes like peppermint flavoured death, but that it seems to be actually helping.
Awesome!!!! *fingers crossed it continues*
Yeah, it’s like minty shnapps. The grape on top just momentarily stuns them but then you still taste the death mint. Alex also hated the Zantac but he did get used to it. Towards the end he would suck it out of the syringe and sign for more.
I wholeheartedly believe that reflux is worse than colic (if in fact they are different creatures).
